What does it mean to me to be a No Excuse Moms Runner?
By: Andrea Glick
I lay my clothes out the night before an early morning run. My friends and I start a group chat to make sure that I actually wake up on time so we can take off right away because I’m usually late. It’s the night before our Sunday long run and several women meet first thing in the morning before it gets too hot. Some of us are training for 5Ks, 10Ks, some of us are training for halfs or fulls, and some of us just like to run. Either way, we all begin together, hold each other accountable, and started off as acquaintances but are now friends. We laugh, we joke, tell stories about anything and everything. We come from different backgrounds, but we all have similar goals.
No Excuse Moms of Austin is a group of women who love to workout together, including running and boxing, the list goes on. We welcome all levels of fitness and by the way, did we mention we do all this free? We are a nonprofit who connects women to workouts that they can fall in love with while including their families. We lead meet ups all over the Austin area at different times. If you have been looking for an accountability partner, workout group, or way to include and introduce your kids to workouts then we are your group! For the month of April we have events like boxing, boot camps, running meet ups, meal preps, a Cap10K meet up, and yoga!
New to fitness? Join us ! We’d love to have you! Already a got a plan? You can join our group too! We love sharing ideas about routines and what’s happening in fitness around Austin! By the way, did we mention we have running groups all over the US? Maria Kang founded the No Excuse Moms group based off the No More Excuses Diet and with the encouragement of her friends. Kang, a mother of three behind the viral “What’s Your Excuse?” mom photos, is here to say that the excuses stop now. NEM is a national organization with groups in 25 countries. The Austin group is led by Edith Salazar, working mom of twin daughters, and Andrea Glick, working mom of two daughters and a son. Their goal is to offer a supportive, encouraging environment where women help motivate each other to continue healthy lifestyles by sharing tips, workouts, and best practices.
Hope to see your sweaty self and meet you!
