Austin-based High Five Events Acquires Conley Sports

Management of Austin Marathon and Half Marathon and 3M Half Marathon Events Convey with Transaction

AUSTIN, Texas – October 27, 2015 – High Five Events, an event production company located in Austin, Texas has acquired Conley Sports from long-time owners, Stacey and John Conley. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. For nine years, Conley Sports has produced Austin’s Marathon and Half Marathon road race, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary on February 14, 2016. In addition, Conley Sports has consulted for the 3M Half Marathon for a decade and managed the race for the past two years.

Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events said, “The Conley Sports event portfolio holds two Austin crown jewels. Combined, the 3M Half and the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon encourage nearly 25,000 runners to toe the line every year. I’ve been involved with the race for more than 15 years as a volunteer and know it’s an incredible asset to the health and wellness of our community. We believe we can take all the best these events have been for people, and with our unique expertise, add to the participant and fan experiences.”

High Five Events is owned and operated by Dan Carroll, Stacy Keese and Jack Murray. Together, the team has almost 45 years of event management experience ranging from 20,000 person 10K running events to concerts featuring well-known artists such as Lee Ann Womack, Ben Kweller, Cory Morrow and Vallejo.

John Conley, owner of Conley Sports and race director of the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon for the past 19 years, as well as of the 3M Half Marathon said, “The opportunity to convey what we have loved to a group of pro’s like Stacy, Dan and Jack who we know will love our events as much as we ever could, is a once-in-a-career moment.” He continued, “High Five loves Austin. They certainly know how important this event is to our community and we’re confident they’ll carry on that tradition.”

As part of the agreement, High Five and Conley Sports have agreed to work closely together to produce both the 2016 versions of the 3M Half Marathon and the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon presented by Freescale Semiconductor, with minimal adjustments. Significant changes to staffing are not planned for 2016 and both vendor and sponsor agreements for next year’s events have been affirmed.
