High Five Events Moving Forward
After numerous conversations and a thorough review of all the options, High Five Events has decided to discontinue the following events: Skeese Greets Women’s Triathlon, Couples Triathlon, and Dirty Du. The Splash-n-Dash series will be transferred to Pure Austin. This was a tough, well-thought out decision that wasn’t taken lightly. In the end, this decision boiled down to High Five Events ensuring we continue to produce world-class events and showcase the best that Austin has to offer.
“While we don’t like canceling these events that are near-and-dear to our company, we felt it was the right thing to do moving forward,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events. “But don’t worry, there are other events that are just as excellent.”
If Skeese Greets Women’s Tri was a favorite of yours, then the Rookie Tri is a great replacement event. With the short swim, the Rookie Tri is great for beginners, but the course is also a challenge for the seasoned vet looking to better their time. Was the Couples Tri your go-to tri? Look no further than Jack’s Generic Tri. JGT promises you’re more than a number; you’re a bar code! If the Dirty Du tickled your fancy then you’ll love the challenge of the Lost Pines Trail Run. This multi-distance running event features challenging courses through the woods of Smithville, Texas.
The summer-long Splash-n-Dash series will continue with Pure Austin. They will take over the multisport event that has become a staple within the Austin Triathlon community. The location will remain at Quarry Lake at Pure Austin North and be held on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m., April through October.
“We look forward to continuing the Austin Triathlon training event: Pure Austin Splash-n-Dash,” said Peri Kowal, coach and trainer. “Our goal is to offer the same fun atmosphere that High Five Events infused into this great event.”
High Five Events would like to thank the thousands of volunteers who made each and every race day memorable, the athletes for showing up in all conditions and giving their best, and our sponsors and partners who helped us take these events to the next level.
