2017 Austin Marathon and Half Marathon to Partner with LISNR

2017 Austin Marathon and Half Marathon to Partner with LISNR

Audio beacon technology integration is first of its kind in endurance event industry

High Five Events is proud to announce the partnership between the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon presented by NXP and LISNR, the world’s first and only data-over-audio solution. The partnership will further the marathon’s efforts to become one of the most technologically advanced road running events in the country by integrating audio beacon technology.

LISNR is a high frequency, inaudible SmartTone technology; a new communication protocol that sends data over audio. Utilizing their audio beacon technology at the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon and expo will provide real-time information, sponsor-related promotional offers, and vital event-based messaging. Deploying this new communication platform near the finish line at Congress Avenue will foster a stronger sense of community by engaging participants, spectators, and local businesses.

“Partnering with LISNR will allow us to engage our audience in a new, innovative way,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events. “Being the first to integrate audio beacon technology is another strategic move in our quest to become the most technologically advanced road running event in the country.”

Unlike Bluetooth, NFC, or GPS, LISNR is not dependent on hardware or connectivity. Wherever sound can be played, connections can be made. This effectively turns any speaker — be it a stadium PA system or the TV in your living room — into a beacon that can trigger second-screen experiences on any device. LISNR’s SmartTones technology works seamlessly across physical and digital spaces more effectively than all current solutions in the marketplace.

“We are the leader in the Internet of Sound and have had successful partnerships with live sporting events and music festivals,” said Chris Ostoich, co-founder of LISNR. “This is our first partnership with a road race and we feel it will be a game-changer, putting the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon one step ahead of other road races.”

The Austin Marathon and Half Marathon presented by NXP will celebrate its 26th year running in Austin on Feb. 19, 2017. Austin’s flagship running event annually attracts runners from all 50 states and 20+ countries around the world. With a downtown finish and within proximity of many downtown hotels and restaurants, the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is the perfect running weekend destination. Participants can register on the website.

About LISNR: LISNR is a high frequency, inaudible technology; a new communication protocol that sends data over audio. As the leaders of the Internet of Sound, we use inaudible sound waves called SmartTones™, to transmit information.  LISNR essentially transmits customizable packets of data every second that enable proximity data transmission, second-screen functionality, authentication and low-fi device to device connectivity on any LISNR enabled device.  We enable this functionality better and more efficiently than bluetooth (proximity), ACR (2nd Screen), and NFC/RFID (authentication). As an integrated software partner, LISNR can power devices to connect with world around better than ever before. Clients include AEG, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indianapolis Colts, R/GA, Budweiser, Roc Nation, and Sony. You can follow them on Twitter (@LISNR). For more information, visit www.lisnr.com.
