11 May Kerrville Triathlon Festival to Sponsor 45th Annual Kerrville Folk Festival
The 2016 Kerrville Triathlon Festival is a sponsor for the 45th Annual Kerrville Folk Festival. The Kerrville Triathlon will continue to positively affect Kerrville and the surrounding area by supporting the free Hill Country Bike Rides. Every Saturday at 9 a.m. during the festival, everyone can enjoy the Texas Hill Country’s views on 26 mile bike rides.
The 45th Annual Kerrville Folk Festival, set to take place on May 26 – June 12, was founded by Rod Kennedy in 1972. For 18 straight days and nights, more than 30,000 guests travel from all over the world to experience the longest continuously running music festival of its kind in North America. The festival is known internationally as a haven for singer-songwriters of varying musical styles. It’s a place where those just developing their skills have the opportunity to play their music along with master craftsmen.
More than 1,500 outstanding singer-songwriters have performed on the festival’s stages since the beginning. More than just a “folk music” festival, Kerrville offers music of many styles including traditional folk, bluegrass, acoustic rock, blues, country, jazz, and Americana. The common thread is songwriting. The focus of the festival is to promote emerging artists while giving the audience exposure to both new and recognized, seasoned talent
“We thoroughly enjoy Kerrville and, as music lovers, are happy to support one of the best music festivals in the country,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events. “Engaging and supporting the local community is a big part of what we do as a company and this allows us to continue that tradition.”
The Kerrville Triathlon Festival (Sept. 24 – 25) was founded in 2011 with the idea of bringing out the beauty and welcoming nature of the Texas Hill Country. Since its start, more than 6,000 participants have crossed the finish line. The event features eight different distance events, including Sprint, Relays, Aquabikes, Quarter and Half distances, and a free kids run. The Kerrville Tri will take place in Louise Hays Park and have an open-to-the-public Finish Line Party stocked with fajitas, a beer garden, and live music. There is something for everyone at the Kerrville Triathlon Festival.
