27 Jun Austin Marathon and Half Marathon® to Join Forces with FitRankings
High Five Events is pleased to announce that FitRankings will power the Corporate Challenge for the 2017 Austin Marathon and Half Marathon® presented by NXP. Utilizing FitRankings’ universal platform for tracking fitness activity will allow the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon to continue its push to become one of the most technologically advanced road running events in the country.
FitRankings ranks companies and individuals using real-time data from the latest wearable devices and fitness apps. Their algorithm converts all activity into one metric (MET Minutes) that is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control. The Corporate Challenge will allow individuals to track their training and race activity and challenge businesses to compete against one another. Awards and participation and registration details will be announced at a later date.
“We’re excited to have FitRankings on board and implement their cutting-edge technology,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events. “Austin is known as one of the fittest cities in the country and this Corporate Challenge will shine a light on how active we are.”
The Austin Marathon and Half Marathon will celebrate its 26th year running in Austin on Feb. 19, 2017. Austin’s flagship running event annually attracts runners from all 50 states and 20+ countries around the world. With start and finish locations just a few blocks apart, and within walking distance of many downtown hotels and restaurants, the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is the perfect running weekend destination. Participants can register on the website.
“Since launching at SXSW 2015, we’ve seen thousands of employees and hundreds of businesses connect using our platform,” said Patrick Hitchens, CEO of FitRankings. “To be a part of Austin’s premier running event and power the Corporate Challenge is a great opportunity for us to showcase our technology.”
