03 Mar The Austin Triathlon Festival Returns to High Five Events
High Five Events is thrilled to bring The Austin Triathlon Festival back into its portfolio of owned and produced events. The Austin Triathlon Festival, formerly known as TriRock Austin, was created by High Five Events in 2007. It was owned by Competitor Group from 2012 – ‘16 and produced by High Five Events during that span.
The Austin Triathlon Festival, commonly known as The Austin Tri, will take place on Monday, September 4th. This popular event will be held at Vic Mathias (Auditorium) Shores in downtown Austin, Texas, and offer participants various events, including sprint (750m swim, 20K bike ride, 5K run), Olympic (1.5K swim, 40K bike ride, 10K run), and aquabike (1.5K swim, 40K bike ride). There will be a relay component for the Olympic distance. Entering its 11th year, The Austin Triathlon Festival will continue to be the fourth event in the Texas Tri Series.
“We’ve been involved with this event since we started it in 2007 and we’re excited to have it back completely under our roof,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events. “The Austin Tri is one of the more respected triathlons in the country and will continue to be so in 2017 and beyond.”
The 2017 course will remain unchanged from the 2016 version and feature a swim course in Lady Bird Lake, cycling over Congress Avenue Bridge, and a run on Riverside Drive. The Austin Triathlon Festival was originally created to highlight the City of Austin, showcase the Olympic triathlon distance, and compliment the shorter distance triathlons that took place in the spring and summer.
