Provide resume, three references, and a writing sample (release, blog, article, etc.)

Responsible for assisting the Marketing and Communications Managers on various day-to-day activities, including writing press releases, assisting with social media implementation, content creation, athlete services, marketing campaigns, event production, and other duties as assigned. Ideal candidateโ€™s internship will begin in the fall of 2017 and conclude following the Austin Marathon (2/18/18). Work with other events during that time frame is required.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Communicate with public via social media, email, in-person
  • Assist with publications like newsletters, releases, email announcements
  • Write press releases for events, sponsorship, and partnerships
  • Create content for social media
  • Write blog posts relevant to the events
  • Research trends in marketing and communications
  • Complete various marketing and communications projects as assigned
  • Work with sponsor activation onsite at events

Qualifications and Expectations

  • Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week
  • Ability to work on event weekends and some additional weekend hours outside of events
  • Junior, senior, or graduate student working towards marketing, communications, or sport management degree
  • Must understand the use of social media for business; previous experience a plus
  • Proficient with computers; Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite; Google Drive knowledge a plus
  • Fast learner and interested in the world of events and event promotion
  • Strong critical thinking, creativity, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, affiliates, and vendors
  • Organizational skills, hard-work-ethic, attention to detail, and respect for deadlines
  • Previous experience in endurance events is a plus, but not required for the position
  • Must have own laptop and transportation
